How To Make Your Front Door Look Better

Anyone who comes to your home is going to go to your front door. Whether it’s friends and family, a delivery person, or some other kind of visitor, they are going to see the entirety of the front of your property, but they are going to get up close and personal with your front door. The same is true for you. Every time you come home, you’ll have to stand at your door to unlock it, open it, and walk inside.

Doesn’t it make sense in that case to have a front door you like looking at and that you’re proud for others to look at too? With that in mind, here are some excellent ways to make your front door look better.

Paint It

Over time, any kind of paint job can become old, faded, and perhaps even flake off. This is especially true of any paint on the outside of your house, which is why, if you want to make your front door look better, you need to consider painting it. It might be that the door is perfectly fine and that a fresh coat (or two) of paint would make all the difference, turning it from something old and unpleasant into something you’ll want people to see.

When choosing paint colors for your front door, make sure you understand the rules of your neighborhood (if there are any), and pick something that looks stylish and classy but doesn’t stand out too much when compared to the other properties on your street for a maximum positive effect.

Install A Canopy

If you don’t have any kind of covering over your front door at the moment, you can install a canopy above your door and you’ll instantly make an amazing difference. Not only will a canopy look great, but it will also be something that can protect you from the elements. If it’s raining, snowing, or particularly windy, for example, the canopy can keep you dry and safe as you lock and unlock your door. It will also ensure that any packages left for you are protected, for example.

Aside from the protective element, a canopy over your front door will make the front of your house look much more complete and give it a more interesting architectural texture rather than being flat and boring.

Get New Hardware

Your front door itself might be absolutely fine, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some changes to ensure it looks even better. This is where you can look at changing the hardware on your door.

Front door hardware means the handles, knobs, numbers, mail slots, knockers, and anything else you add to the door to make it more usable. If yours is old, outdated, or you don’t like the look of it, you can easily change it to something different; you can buy the items you need online or from a hardware store. Once you’ve made the changes, the door will look entirely new, even though it’s actually the same one. Even better, you can change the front door hardware as many times as you want to for minimal cost.
