The Internet of Things in the home

You might find that you are hearing more about the Internet of Things but you are still wondering what it actually is. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that was coined back in 1999 by Mr. Kevin Ashton in describing how two objects can communicate with each other using the Internet.

Ashton wrote about this concept in an industry journal as the term is now very much part of the modern day lexicon of technology. Previously the IoT would have been seen by many as far off in the future but the IoT is very much part of the world today. There are many items you can buy in mainstream stores which incorporate the IoT which you may not be aware of.

This interesting info-graphic from Half Price Shutters in Australia covers the topic of the Internet of Things in the home and gives some examples for the home that are available right now.
