Why Cheshunt is a London Commuters Dream

You may not have heard of it, but Cheshunt in Hertfordshire could be the perfect place for you if you work in London and are getting a little fed up with paying London prices!

In 2019, Cheshunt was named the best place for London commuters to live. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why.

Commute time and cost

There are many towns within commuting distance of London which are an attractive proposition for people looking to enjoy the career opportunities that working in the big city affords them while not paying an extortionate amount on a rent or mortgage.

Chesham is just a 26 minute commute into London by train. It also has one of the cheaper season tickets at £2,288 per year. This isn’t a small amount of money; however of all 116 locations that were reviewed this was the fifth cheapest!

House prices

The average house price in Cheshunt in 2019 was £384,248. This is considerably cheaper than the average London price, which was £466,824!

Cheshunt’s properties are also a lot more spacious than London homes and offer a better quality of life for residents. Local Chesham estate agent robertoandco.com has some beautiful homes on offer, complete with driveways and gardens. It is perfect for people with families or people who just don’t want to worry about finding on-street parking.

The town

The town is small, but it’s not without its share of things to do. It has lots of wonderful places to eat, including the favorite among lovers of seafood, Fishy Delishy, and Vince’s Kitchen, where you can get yourself a wonderful Italian meal.

There are loads of places to shop, and the town and surrounding area are full of historical attractions to keep history buffs entertained.

Country days out

Cheshunt is located within the Lea Valley and is very close to Cedars Park and Lee Valley Park.

Lee Valley is home to over 200 different species of bird! It’s also home to 35 different mammal species, including the Otter and the Water Vole. The gorgeous grounds and woodland are a wonderful way to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature after a tough week at work. It’s also a great place to take the kids, as it has a focus on education as well as outdoor and sporting activities.

Leisure and retail development

As well as offering a great quality of life and a balance between town and country, Cheshunt could be a great investor opportunity.

By the end of 2022, Cheshunt will be home to a new £400m retail and leisure complex set to provide an estimated two thousand new jobs, new space for schooling, new homes, and entertainment and shopping facilities.

The project aims to make Cheshunt an even more attractive place for residents to live, work, and invest. It’s been made a priority because it is predicted that an additional 175,000 more people will want to live in Cheshunt by 2031, and the council wants to ensure that the town can cater to them.
