Last Updated on March 28, 2022 by Kravelv

How many times did you have just about 20 minutes to tidy up your home before the guests arrive? No doubt you’d spent the previous few days too busy on your phone at sites like Thorslots, click to view the brand. So, it probably wasn’t enough, but don’t despair yet the Cleaners Glasgow – Helpling are here to – help! We made a guide for you, the one to use especially in these kinds of situations. Set the stopwatch on 20 minutes and let’s do some speed cleaning before the guests arrive!

  1. Porch – if you have one

Let’s start out front – head to your porch quickly, shake the dust off exterior doormats and give the porch a thorough sweeping. This will guarantee a tidy first impression – and who wouldn’t want that?

  1. Laundry basket is the key

Grab a laundry basket and go from room to room and pick up all those things that don’t belong. If you’ve got kids, make a game for them – they should pick up as many unnecessary things as they can until the time runs out. When finished, simply stash the laundry basket in a closet, or somewhere guests won’t look. Remember, the point of the speed cleaning is not to put everything in its rightful place – that will happen later. Already looking better, right?

  1. Tidy up the guest bathroom

The bathroom that the guests will use needs special attention. After all, this is a place where guests will spend a good amount of time, sitting privately with a chance to look around unobserved. So, wipe it up quickly, maybe light a candle and make it look clean and nice. Also, don’t forget to replenish hand soap and towels. This way you’re making sure that the guests visit again. For the intermediate ones: make sure you have your cleaning supplies nearby, so you can set your own personal record for the next time. You might finish all of this after all, don’t you think?

  1. Vacuum the floors

Don’t vacuum all the floors, just run it through the rooms where you and your friends will be. You don’t have the time to vacuum the whole house, so just focus on these rooms. Don’t forget to fluff the pillows!

  1. Danger zone rooms

Some rooms shouldn’t be seen or needed by the guests. So, make sure you shut the doors on all the unnecessary rooms – especially if they are messy. You will clean those some other time!

  1. Shine bright like a…

During the nighttime, make sure you turn on some lights. If your guests are visiting during the day, open up the shutters – or the curtains or the blinds. A room filled with light looks cleaner and happier.

  1. Kitchen catchall

If you are thinking that the guests won’t enter the kitchen – you are probably wrong. They might follow you into the kitchen for a glass of water, a cup of tea, some small snack or they will simply keep you company and help you while you are cooking something. So, the kitchen is surely on this list. There are always some things lying around the kitchen – dishes, cookbooks, spices… You can stash all that stuff in decorative bins to free up counter space for entertaining the guests. If there is no time to wash the dishes – at least fill the sink up with hot, soapy water and put the dishes in there, so you can finish that later.

  1. Dust in the wind

You don’t have to search for the duster – you can really use the first sock that you can find, preferably and an old one. Slip the sock over your hand, apply the oil-based polish to it and quickly dust the furniture. Make sure you don’t forget those framed photos in sight, they could use the dusting too!

  1. Don’t forget the coats!

This one is definitely worth mentioning. Don’t forget that your guests will need a place to put their coats when they visit. So, prepare a designated spot for coats and bags of your guests.

  1. Make your home smell nice

Last but not least, make sure your home smells nice. Grind some lemon slices in the garbage disposal to get rid of odors and give the kitchen a fresh scent. Light an incense stick (or an aroma candle) in your living room and your whole house will have a wondrous, healthy scent.

Those are the ten commandments of the speed cleaning. And yes, you can finish all the tasks within 20 minutes! You can and you should adjust these tips to your homework out your own plan and make your home look clean in no time. Hopefully, we helped you with these ideas!
